Energy-Saving Concept of the Shanghai Mercedes-Benz Performing Arts Center

作者:霍高文 Updated:2023-05-11

Mercedes-benz Culture Center, the overall shape of a flying saucer, at different angles and different times will show different forms. The day is like "time and space shuttle", like "art sea shell"; Night is dreamy and blurred, as if "floating city". With a total area of 120,000 square meters and 18,000 audience seats, the center integrates theaters, concert halls, exhibition halls, salons and various commercial and tourist facilities. Its curved exterior is not only designed to highlight the fashion sense of this new cultural landmark, but also contains a subtle environmental concept. The curved surface forms a self-shading system to avoid direct sunlight during the hot season, while providing natural light to the underground space under the glass roof. The green slope outside the center -- the application of soil cover technology makes the center perfectly integrated into the surrounding water features, and provides thermal insulation for the underground space extending to the venue.

The outer skin of the Performing Arts Center is a super-large hyperbolic gradient shape, which is divided into two parts: the upper shell and the lower shell. Due to the relative complexity of this building shape and the need for external decorative panels, after the evaluation and comparison of relevant experts on product systems and technical solutions, it was finally decided to use Hoogovens H65 roof system. Hoogovens H65 roof system uses aluminum magnesium manganese alloy as raw materials, aluminum magnesium manganese alloy is a green environmental protection recyclable material, to meet the requirements of the European Union and international circular economy and sustainable development. At the same time, Hoogovens H65 roof system effectively solves a series of problems of roof waterproof, drainage, energy saving and hanging triangular honeycomb aluminum decorative panel. In order to achieve the purpose of rainwater collection and recycling, the design team of Hoogovens analyzed the drainage of the roof, set the gutter according to the shape and slope of the roof, and arrange the H65 roof system in sections, which not only solved the problem of radial and latitudinal stress expansion of the metal roof system, but also achieved the purpose of reasonable drainage and rainwater collection.

The metal roof system meets the heat transfer coefficient K≤0.7W/(m2·K) of the enclosure structure in the hot summer and cold winter area of the green building. Through thermal calculation, the technical team of Hoogovens has carried out a large number of comparison and selection of the technical parameters, bulk density and thickness of the insulation materials to determine the insulation scheme of the roof, thus meeting the requirements of the green building. The roof and exterior wall of the Expo Performance Center are lightweight roofs. In order to avoid the impact of traffic noise and rain impact, the acoustic design requirements are: air sound insulation index Rw≥45dB; Impact sound (mainly rain impact sound) sound insulation index Lpn,w≤40dB, the actual sound insulation amount through the experiment measurement. In the roofing system scheme, the technical team of Hoogovens adopts the arrangement of ultra-fine glass fiber wool and perforated sound absorption board to meet the indoor sound absorption design of green buildings, control the room reverberation time, obtain good sound quality and reduce room noise.

The project focuses on the unified combination of internal function and external form, and the design adopts innovative building technology as far as possible to reflect the concept of energy conservation and environmental protection. Project design in accordance with the 3R principles, that is, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, using the river water warm in winter and cool in summer characteristics, the introduction of Huangpu River water to form a new high-efficiency energy-saving water air conditioning system. The rainwater collection system is arranged on the top, and the rainwater flows into the gutter system through the HGV-H65 system, and the rainwater is recycled and used for irrigation and road cleaning. The surface of the venue uses low energy consumption of environmentally friendly materials, LED new light source instead of traditional lighting, making the building energy consumption than the traditional mode is greatly reduced. Using photoelectric curtain wall, river cooling, pneumatic garbage recycling, air conditioning water and rainwater collection, program-controlled green space water-saving irrigation system, and through a variety of effective technical means, energy and water consumption, indoor air quality and the use of renewable materials and other aspects of control, so that the center has become a true sense of the green building. The green ecological building base, energy saving and environmental protection building skin treatment techniques make the center melt into the natural form of Binjiang Park, reflecting the design concept of harmonious coexistence and "Better City, Better Life" the general theme of the Expo.
